Two men dead after federal agents bust drug operation in Houston's East-End

Two men are dead after local and federal authorities tried to bust a local drug operation in Houston's East End on Harrisburg at 77th Street.

A little before 10 last night, HPD’s SWAT team and the DEA came to a warehouse on Harrisburg after investigating a drug crew. This is where investigators thought they could finally catch the crew.  At one point, a suspect shot at a SWAT officer, the officer shot back and the suspect died. A second suspect managed to get away in a car, but crashed and ran off until a K9 officer got him. While officers had that suspect handcuffed, he complained of chest pains and went into full cardiac arrest. There were medics on the scene who tried to save him but that man died at Ben Taub.

HPD Chief art Acevedo says investigators knew enough about this suspected drug crew to know they were potentially facing a shootout.

The other 7 people surrendered. Could be gang involvement but not confirming that yet
