Two dead, multiple injured in wreck on Highway 249

CYPRESS, Texas (FOX 26) - Two people are dead and multiple injured in a car crash on Highway 249 at Grant Road.

Officials say around 12:30 p.m. Monday a gold sedan was heading southbound on the feeder road of Highway 249.

As the sedan approached the intersection with Grant, the driver veered to her right.

Her car hit the island and slammed into the minivan that was sitting facing eastbound.

The impact was so strong, it flipped th minivan and the sedan over on their roofs.

Two passengers died. 

A one-year-old girl in the van was critically injured.  

She and the two drivers were taken by LifeFlight to local hospitals. Their conditions are unknown at this time.

Investigators are not sure why the sedan veered off the road,  but they do know that alcohol was not factor.
