Two-alarm fire spreads to multiple homes

Firefighters were forced to pull a second alarm following a fire east of downtown Houston that destroyed one property and spread to a few others.

An adjoining property behind a home on Grace Street near Wilmer Street in southeast Houston was fully engulfed in flames at around 8:30 p.m. Friday. The flames spread to the main house, a garage and another home.

Fire investigators say a space heater fell over, causing a couch to catch on fire. The family in the attached house was able to escape from the burning structure. No one was injured in the fire.
