Trespasser reported at Baytown plant

Baytown ExxonMobil Refinery

Harris County Sheriff's Department and Baytown police are investigating a trespasser who was spotted on ExxonMobil property.

According to a statement released by ExxonMobil Corporation,  on Saturday, April 9 at approximately 7:30 a.m. an unauthorized person entered the ExxonMobil Baytown Complex.

The statement goes on to read:

Harris County officials continue to search for an unauthorized individual that may be on ExxonMobil property.

To ensure the safety and security of our personnel, we implemented our site security plan in a portion of our Complex today.

Working with law enforcement expertise, the majority of the workforce has been released back to work.

The facilities continue to operate at normal rates.

We are cooperating with local and county law enforcement.

We take matters of this nature very seriously and are working closely with Baytown Police Department and Harris County Sheriff's Office.

We diligently work to ensure the safety of our workers, our equipment and our community and have deployed active security measures to respond."

Harris County Sheriff's department officials tell us they are assisting Baytown in the search.

A perimeter has been set up in the area as they search for this individual.
