Suspicious fire that sent two people to the hospital under investigation

Police and firefighters are investigating a suspicious fire that left two people in the hospital Wednesday morning.

Houston Police Department mentions both an assault and a fire call coming from the apartment on the 1500 block of Sandy Springs.

We quickly learned the phone call was made by someone inside the home and the fire was intentionally started.

Police say a 68 year old man and his 30 Year old downs syndrome son were quickly sent to the hospital for smoke inhalation. As for the mother who also lives there, detectives say she was no where to be found.

"The cops are over here twice a week," neighbor Ann McRae said.

Neighbors, Houston Fire Department, and Houston Police Department all tell us the same thing. The parents who occupy the home were constantly racking up law enforcement calls.

"They were always fighting. Always. It was horrible."

Police say they have detectives out searching for the mother. They wouldn't reveal if she was indeed, the person who made the phone call claiming the father shot his son.
