HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Friday, sheriff's deputies were called to an apartment complex in the 7300 block of Spring Cypress.
"Upon arrival they found a witness that a juvenile had indeed been shot and was transported to an area hospital," said Harris County Sergeant Eric Clegg.
That 15-year-old died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Deputies say he was shot by his 17-year-old friend who had a gun.
"Typical deal that's happening, these kids are getting access to guns and it went off and struck his friend," Clegg said.
Deputies say the three other teens inside the apartment all say the same thing. They were playing with the gun and it went off.
Clegg says this unfortunately happens way too often.
"My squad alone I want to say this is the third one we've done this year involving kids playing with guns," he said.
These shootings happened within just the last three weeks A 16-year-old girl was accidentally shot and seriously wounded in the 100 block of Grey Friar.
A 14-year-old was shot in the leg while playing with a gun with a friend on FM 1960.
A 2-year-old in the 5000 block of Paradise Lane found a gun and shot himself in the hand and leg.
A 3-year-old died after finding a gun in the 28000 block of Firethome Road.
