A suspected drunk driver was caught on camera in Troy, disturbing the peace at the crack of dawn.

A homeowner's surveillance camera captured a strange scene in his backyard near South and Adams in Troy. It was about 6 a.m. Saturday morning when David Pietroski first noticed a car on his lawn.

"It sort of took me a back - I saw a car parked on the grass and I thought (are we) expecting company?" Pietroski said.

A closer look revealed a woman was inside the car slumped over her steering wheel. At first Pietroski didn't know if she was dead or alive, but then she tried to drive away.

"She had woken up and she was starting to drive down the back yard trying to get out," he said.

Ironically, David is the sobriety court attorney in Troy. He had already called 911 and now he was witnessing a drunk driving arrest firsthand, and it wasn't going so smoothly.

"She sort of got sassy with them," David said.

Police say since the woman refused the field sobriety test. They had to get a search warrant for a blood draw. FOX 2 is still waiting to find out just what her blood alcohol level was.

"She was trying to drive away so we got there basically in the nick of time to stop her before she could get back on the road," said Sgt. Meghan Lehman.

"With all the hundreds and hundreds of drunk driving cases that I've had - this one had a happy ending - she didn't get hurt," Pietroski said. "No one else got hurt, nothing got damaged."
