According to officials with the Houston Police Department, it happened in the 6300 block of Windswept Lane in the Mahatma Gandhi district a little before 12:30 a.m. Arriving officers say they found a man in his early 30's with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

Initial reports say the victim was being robbed by the suspect before he was shot to death. The suspect then reportedly fled in a blueish-green Toyota Corolla, dropping his wallet prior to taking off.

A witness was able to identify the suspect with the I.D. he dropped and an investigation is underway to find him.
