Police seek 'dangerous fugitive' in Rosenberg arson, homicide

The Rosenberg Police Department is seeking help from the public to find a convicted felon described as a "violent and dangerous fugitive." Valentine Gonzalez Jr., who is required to register as a sex offender, failed to comply and has absconded.

Gonzalez, who was convicted of aggravated sexual assault in Nueces County in 1989 and sentenced to 27 years in prison, has been named a person of interest in an ongoing arson and murder investigation. The body of Nancy Marie Dean was found inside her home on Cotter Lane near Redding Road in Rosenberg following a fire on Sept. 3.

 

Gonzalez's last known location was along the Interstate 35 corridor in the New Braunfels area.  

Rosenberg police have issued an arrest warrant Gonzalez, 51, for failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements, a third degree felony. Anyone with information about where Gonzalez can be found is encouraged to contact the Rosenberg Police Department by phone at 832-595-3700.
