Man taken into custody following convenience aggravated robbery

On Saturday, at 4:25 pm, officers with the City of Orange Police Department were dispatched to a Shell convenience store at 1402 16th St, in reference to an Aggravated Robbery.

Upon officers arrival, the suspect had just exited the store and was attempting to flee. He was identified by the store owner who met officers outside and was apprehended in the Church’s Chicken parking lot located at 1322 N 16th St.

Upon investigation, it was determined that the suspect was caught in a back store room of the store by one of the employees, at which time he displayed a knife in a threatening manner, before attempting to leave the store.

The suspect was identified as 51-year-old white male Jerry Scott. He was later booked into the Orange County Jail for Aggravated Robbery.
