KATY, Texas (FOX 26) - The Katy Independent School District added a new feature to its Katy OnTheGo mobile app.
The Bullying Tip Line feature launched on the first day of school. Parents and students can report bullying anonymously.
“[The students] can do it when they’re on the bus, when they’re on their way home, on the way to the school, in the privacy of their own home,” said Maria DiPetta, a spokesperson with Katy ISD.
The tool is for students in K-12. A student can report that he or she is being bullied or someone they know.
The user will have to fill out a short form that asks for the name of the school and the type of bullying. There is the option to remain anonymous, disclose your location, and upload a photo. The user will be asked to include as much detail as possible about the incident.
After submitting, the information will be sent to the email of the designated administrator at each school. DiPetta says school staff was trained over the summer on how to respond to the reports.
