Hundreds came together in Ladysmith, Wisconsin Thursday night to honor and remember a Rusk County sheriff's deputy killed in the line of duty.

Deputy Dan Glaze, 33, was shot and killed last Saturday while checking on a suspicious vehicle, an act of violence many are still trying to comprehend.

"Dan was an amazing officer, he was the kind of guy if started something he finished it no matter what it took,” Rusk County Sheriff Jeffrey Wallace said at the candlelight vigil on Thursday.

The motivation for the shooting remains a mystery.

"It kind of says something about the community that the death was not going to be the last word,” Wallace said. “People were going to come together and show the police they are not alone."
