Houston weather: Heat advisory continues Friday, small weekend rain chances
Houston weather: Heat advisory continues Friday, heat index in 100s
The heat advisory continues Friday and into the weekend with heat index values possibly reaching 110. A few storms may be possible and could form Saturday evening.
HOUSTON - Friday is hot and sunny, so nothing much has changed. We'll see "feels like" temperatures in the triple-digits.
Heat advisory continues
A Heat Advisory is in effect for all of southeast Texas from noon to 7 pm both Friday and Saturday. Highs will reach the upper 90s and low 100s, with heat index values around 106 to 110 degrees.
Hot weekend, little rain
The heat wave continues into the weekend, with highs around 100 degrees or hotter. Most areas stay dry, but a few isolated showers or storms could develop Saturday evening. Highest coverage will be north of I-10.
Tropics mostly quiet
The Atlantic remains unusually quiet for late August, with no organized tropical threat to Texas right now. There's a very low chance a brief weak tropical or subtropical system could form in the northeast Atlantic over the next week. But it is headed towards Portugal and Spain and is not a threat to the U.S.
Another area near the island of Bermuda will likely stay away from the east coast of the U.S. We will continue watching the tropical wave train in the eastern Atlantic as activity typically increases heading toward the peak of hurricane season in September.
