Houston carjacking shooting: Woman injured on Milby; suspect fled

A woman was shot by a man who tried to carjack her in Second Ward late Monday night, Houston police say.

Authorities are searching for the gunman.

The shooting occurred around 11:40 p.m. in the 300 block of Milby Street near Preston Street.

Police say a man tried to steal the woman’s car and shot her. She was able to get away, driving to Sampson Street and Harrisburg Blvd. for help.

She was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

What we know:

The suspect fled the scene. He is described only as a Hispanic male wearing a black hoodie and blue mask.

Authorities were looking for surveillance video and gathering evidence at the scene to aid in the investigation.
