Houston Bush Airport travelers urged to arrive 3 hours early Friday

Airport officials are warning travelers to arrive at least three hours early at Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Friday, which is expected to be the busiest day of the holiday travel season.

According to Houston Airports, more than 207,000 are expected to fly out of IAH on Friday. Arrivals and departures are expected to create a heavy volume of travelers between 4 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

What should travelers do?

Everyone flying out of IAH is advised to arrive well in advance of their scheduled departure to ensure sufficient time to check in, get through security and get to their gates.

The free Houston Airports app shows TSA wait times, and travelers can consider checking in at another terminal with a shorter wait time and taking the Skyway train or Subway to their assigned terminal.

Those who need parking, can reserve a spot at least 12 hours in advance at fly2houston.com/parking.

For travelers getting dropped off, airport officials remind drivers to follow the active loading policy and pull up, unload and move along to keep traffic flowing.
