Harris County shooting: Authorities investigating murder, attempted suicide on Casuna Lane

A woman is dead and a man is in critical condition after a shooting in west Harris County that authorities believe to be related to domestic violence.

What we know:

Deputies with the Harris County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office responded to the 7400 block of Casuna Lane, in a neighborhood near Freeman Road and Westgreen Blvd., on Friday.

They reportedly found a man and a woman in the intersection, both suffering from gunshot wounds.

They were both taken to the hospital. The woman did not survive her injuries. The man was last reported to be in critical condition.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the couple has three children ages 4, 11, and 13, who were at school when the shooting occurred. Invesitigators say the children are now with relatives.

Authorities said based on preliminary information, it appears the man shot his spouse multiple times before turning the gun on himself.

Neighbor reacts to shooting

A neighbors surveillance camera captured the man following his wife down the sidewalk at the intersection of Palm Gables and Sunlit Harbor. The camera picks up some of the conversation, it sounds more like a discussion than an argument with no warning of what's to come seconds later.

Neighbor Jorge Batista told FOX 26, "it raises alarms. No one is safe in any neighborhood, however good it looks. It's really alarming for all of us who live here, because there's always kids here playing in the street in complete peace, so it's not normal, something like this happening here."

What we don't know:

There is no information at this time about how the shooting transpired.

No one involved has been publicly identified.
