Funeral services Monday for Harris Co. Pct. 4 Constable Deputy Kareem Atkins
HOUSTON - Funeral services will be held on Monday for a Harris County Precinct 4 constable deputy who was fatally shot during an apparent ambush in north Houston.
Deputy Kareem Atkins was fatally shot and two other constable deputies were wounded outside of a bar in the early morning hours of October 16.

Deputy Atkins, 30, had recently returned back to work after paternity leave. He was employed with Precinct 4 since January 22, 2019.

Visitation and funeral services for Deputy Atkins will be held on Monday at Champions Forest Baptist Church, located at 15555 Stuebner Airline Road in Houston.
Visitation for family members will take place from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., while department and public members can attend from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Funeral services for Atkins will begin following the visitation at 2 p.m.
Graveside service will take place at Klein Memorial Park Cemetery in Tomball.

Authorities are still searching for the suspect in the deadly shooting. A $76,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the identity, arrest, and charges of a suspect.
Deputies Darrell Garrett and Juqaim Barthen were also injured in the shooting.
The three constable deputies were working extra jobs at 45 Bar and Lounge on the North Freeway when a witness told them of a possible robbery.
The officers then tried to intervene in the alleged robbery when they were ambushed and shot from behind by a suspect armed with an AR-15 rifle.

Deputy Barthen, a 2-year veteran, was released from the hospital on Wednesday after being treated for a gunshot wound in the foot and non-life-threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, Deputy Garrett, 28, remains hospitalized after being shot in the back.
