A Fort Bend County deputy is recovering after he was shot three times. Deputies arrived to a home in the Orchard Lakes subdivision in the Sugar Land area early on Tuesday morning. According to deputies, 41-year-old Serik Olivares opened fire, shooting a deputy in the calf and grazing his chin twice. This led to a six-hour standoff.

The Pasadena Independent School District Police Department is still investigating accusations against a substitute teacher at the Jessup Elementary campus in southeast Houston. Parents tell FOX 26 News that the substitute teacher touched several fourth grade female students inappropriately under and over their clothing during class on Friday.

A Conroe priest accused of sexual abuse was arraigned on Tuesday. Father Manuel La Rosa-Lopez has not been formally indicted at this point, so he did not have to enter a plea. He is charged with four counts of indecency with a child.

U.S. Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke visited Rice University and Texas Southern University on Tuesday, rallying hundreds of students just two weeks before early voting begins. O'Rourke is preparing to face off against incumbent Republican Senator Ted Cruz in the November mid-term elections.
