Fiona the Hippo makes first sounds by grunting at her fan club

STORYFUL - Cincinnati Zoo’s baby hippo Fiona grunted at her own fan club on Sunday, February 4. According to the zoo, this was the first time the famous hippo’s vocalizations had been recorded.

Fiona was born six weeks early on January 24, 2017 and, weighing just 29 pounds, couldn’t walk. The normal birth weight for a hippo is 55 to 120 pounds. On her first birthday she weighed in at 650 pounds.
