Costco recalls sparkling wine over risk of shattering bottles

Costco is recalling a sparkling wine brand due to the danger of the bottles shattering.
The Kirkland Signature Prosecco Valdobbiadene poses a risk of "unopened bottles shattering, even when the product is handled or not in use," Costco said in a recall notice.

The affected wine bottles that could shatter, with the item number 1879870, were sold between April 25 and August 26 at Costco stores in the following states:
- Iowa
- Illinois
- Indiana
- Kentucky
- Michigan
- Minnesota
- Missouri
- North Dakota
- Nebraska
- Ohio
- South Dakota
- Wisconsin
Costco advises consumers to dispose of bottles
What you can do:
Costco members who have the product are advised to throw out the glass bottles "immediately" by wrapping the unopened wine in paper towels and placing it in a plastic bag "to avoid risk from shattered glass."
Members who bring the recall letter to your local Costco stores will receive a full refund.
