Cooling Centers open throughout Houston

It's summertime in southeast Texas which means it's ridiculously hot out. All over Houston people are doing what they can to cool off.

To help folks beat the heat, Mayor Sylvester Turner has opened up multiple cooling centers across town.

“I’d rather you be cool and safe and out of harms way than to try to be living at home or an apartment you name it and the heat is 100 degrees or more and I’m especially sensitive to our elderly population and to our children," says Mayor Turner.

If you can't find a ride to a center, Mayor Turner says you can call 311 and request a free ride from Metro.
