BROOKLYN - Police are investigating after a 7-month-old girl was fatally shot in East Williamsburg, located near the Bushwick border.

According to police, officers responded around 1:20 p.m. to a 911 call of an infant shot near Moore Street and Humboldt Street.
Authorities say the child’s mother was pushing a stroller across the street when she heard gunfire and ran into a nearby deli, identified as Sem Sem Deli, to take cover.
Bystanders nearby said they heard an argument followed by gunfire, with people screaming and running from the scene. The motive has not been determined.

Once inside, police said the mother realized her child had been struck and was bleeding.
She then rushed the infant to a nearby hospital, where the 7-month-old girl was pronounced dead.
