Anne Hathaway says 'white privilege' a factor in murder case

18-year-old Nia Wilson was stabbed to death on a train platform in Oakland, Calif. John Lee Cowell, 27, faces a charge of murder along with attempted murder in the stabbing of Nia's sister Lahtifa, who survived the attack.

On social media the hashtag campaign #JusticeForNia is trending and being promoted by some notable entertainers. Actors Tracee Ellis Ross, Jada Pinkett Smith and Anne Hathaway are all using their platforms to draw attention to the Nia's death and to demand justice in the case.

Hathaway had to disable comments in the following post based on the level of engagement, both positive and negative, that it was drawing:
