82-year-old woman dies from apparent cold exposure in Crosby

CROSBY, Texas (FOX 26) - Harris County deputies believe the bitter cold claimed the life of an 82-year-old Crosby woman who has dementia. 

Deputies were called to the woman's house on Dreamland Avenue around 10 a.m. this morning after someone who checks on the woman every day reported her missing.

Deputies searched the area and found her body in a wooded area behind her home. Investigators believe she wandered away from the house and succumbed to the cold temperatures and exposure.

The Institute of Forensic Science will determine the cause of death.
