SUWANEE, Ga. - Dorie, a service puppy-in-training that went missing from a Milton training facility, has been found safe, according to a Facebook post.
The puppy's owner announced the good news Wednesday.
"BREAKING!!!!! Dorie is SAFE and is heading home!!!!!! Details to come!," read the post.
Dorie, a three-month-old Golden Retriever puppy, was taken from her kennel at Canine Assistants, a non-profit service-dog school in Milton. Leadership at the facility says it occurred between the evening of Sept. 3 and the early morning of Sept. 4.
Dorie was last seen at the facility during the lock down procedure on Sept. 3. She was discovered missing, along with her equipment, the next morning. The puppy was reportedly wearing her puppy in training vest, harness and leash when she was taken.
The facility conducted an internal investigation into Dorie's disappearance, which confirmed that none of their 280 volunteers had the dog in their possession. Stricter security measures have been put in place at the facility.
Milton Police are investigating the incident. A $2,000 reward is being offered for information leading to Dorie’s safe return.
