Tropical Weather Forecast - Atlantic basin remains quiet, but don't let down your guard!

So far this hurricane season, Saharan dust has dominated across the Atlantic resulting in a lack of many strong tropical waves and a quiet pattern. In the short-term, no storms are expected, but as we head into August and especially mid-August, expect a more active tropical pattern for the Caribbean, Gulf and Atlantic. September is typically the busiest month of the Atlantic basin hurricane season.

Houston weather: Another hot day for Thursday

Please reduce your time outside during the hottest part of the day and make sure to drink plenty of water. Also, keep in mind that an air quality alert for higher ozone levels remains in place.

Tropical Weather Forecast - Pacific Basin remains busy, Atlantic still quiet

So far, there is no short-term threat of any tropical systems for the Atlantic Basin, but tropical waves in the Atlantic will become larger and more robust as we head into August. Expect storms to start forming around the second week of August. Get the latest information on hurricane emergency gear available and up-to-date tropical forecasts by checking out FOX Local.

Houston weather: Another scorcher on the way for Wednesday

We got within a few degrees of record highs on Tuesday and we'll come close again Wednesday as we head toward 100. Much of the country is under heat advisories or extreme heat warnings, so widespread dangerous heat will continue impacting over 150 million people nationwide. We are not under any advisories because our overnight temps and even hot afternoon highs are below those warning criteria. However, we are under an air quality alert for higher ozone levels. So please limit time outside if you do have any respiratory issues. A gradual increase in rain with a good chance for showers and storms Friday through Sunday will cool things off a bit.
