Saturday weather forecast with Meteorologist Lena Maria Arango

A couple of light spotty showers are lingering along the coastline this morning, but otherwise it's a cool and quiet day. Enjoy it, because tomorrow our front returns... this time as a warm one. That'll bring our daytime highs into the 80s for much of next week, paired with a few isolated showers/storms on Sunday. Next week looks mostly dry until later in the week (great parade weather, hint hint). Our next front looks to arrive as we honor our Veterans on Friday, bringing the return of rain chances and a cooldown as we head into the weekend.

Saturday overnight/morning forecast

Our severe storm threat remains elevated across SE Texas through the rest of today and especially tonight. Most of the area remains under a Category 2 out of 5 threat for severe weather with a higher Category 3 out of 5 risk in our northern communities. Between now and 7PM, there will be a threat for a few supercell storms that could produce damaging winds or a brief tornado. Then expect a line of storms to develop that will roll through between 9 PM and 2 AM Saturday. Damaging winds 58+ MPH will be possible with this line. So make sure you have the FOX 26 weather app downloaded and have the alerts for your area turned on. Weather calms down for World Series Game 6 Saturday evening with no rain expected downtown. Election Day Tuesday also looks quiet.

Tropical Weather Forecast - November 4, 2022

Lisa is hanging out in the southern Gulf of Mexico as a Tropical Depression with winds of only 30 mph. It is expected to weaken to a post-tropical remnant low over the next few days, then fade away. I'm also watching two other areas of interest, a disturbance in the central Atlantic with only a 10% chance for development and an area that has the potential to see a tropical wave develop in the southwest Atlantic.

Possible showers as severe weather approaches Friday afternoon

Travel may get implicated, both on the roads and in the skies today as folks head to Houston for game 6 of the World Series. Please be extremely careful if driving especially after dark. Isolated strong to severe storms may pop up locally this afternoon through early evening. Past 10 p.m. or so, the threat shifts to the potential for straight-line damaging winds as the line of storms rolls through. Power outages are likely, along with isolated wind damage and briefly heavy rain/frequent thunder and lightning. Tornado and hail threats are lower for us, but cannot be completely ruled out. After a rocky start to the weekend, the rest of it looks fantastic and we can look forward to celebrating a game 6 win with an extra hour of sleep Sunday morning! The majority of next week will be quiet, sunny, and dry with seasonably warm temperatures.

Check your FOX 26 weather app throughout the day because scattered storms are expected by late afternoon, then we still expect a line of strong to severe storms between around 10pm and 2am to move through bringing high winds and brief heavy rain. The weekend looks pretty nice with clear, dry weather for Game 6 of the World Series.

Friday morning weather forecast

A few showers may roll through this evening and tonight as moisture increases ahead of our next storm system. The next cold front will arrive Friday night and will bring a round of strong to severe storms with the best chance from 8 pm Friday until 2 am Saturday. Main threat will be 60-70 mph damaging winds that could knock down trees and powerlines. But a tornado or two can't be ruled out so make sure you have the FOX 26 App downloaded and alerts turned on. 1-2 inches of rain will also be likely for some of the area that could elevate the flood threat. After this system moves out, we should dry things out and usher in quiet weather just in time for Game 6 of the World Series at Minute Maid Park. A few showers are possible Monday of next week but Election Day is looking dry.

Tropical Weather Forecast - November 3, 2022

Lisa made landfall in Belize yesterday afternoon and has quickly weakened to a Tropical Depression over SE Mexico. Martin is now a large and powerful post-tropical storm over the north Atlantic with 80 mph winds. It is not expected to have any direct impacts with land. Another tropical wave a few hundred miles east of Bermuda has only a 10% chance for development over the next 2-5 days.

Breezy, warm Thursday afternoon with some showers

Warmth and humidity will be on the rise today and tomorrow as gulf breezes continue to funnel in rich moisture ahead of our next storm system. An elevated strong to severe storm risk exists to our north during the day Friday, with a more subdued version reaching us closer to midnight. Strong winds continue to be the primary concern locally that could lead to some isolated wind damage and power outages in the overnight hours. After a brief dose of heavy rain, frequent thunder, and lightning we're looking better for World Series Game 6 at home, though a few daily lighter showers may linger through Monday.

Houston Weather: Severe storms expected for Friday, possible tornadoes

Our winds, humidity and temperatures are trending higher for today and tomorrow with a gulf breeze kicking in. Now, we are still concerned about a line of severe storms on the way late Friday night that could bring high winds and brief heavy rain. Beyond that system, rain chances and temperatures will be lower for the weekend and Election Day.

Locally, there might be a stray shower this evening but most should be dry. We are closely monitoring a developing storm system that will bring an increased Category 2 out of 5 severe threat to Houston late Friday through early Saturday. Main threat will be damaging winds but there will be a low tornado threat and some brief heavy rain. Highest severe threat will stay to the north of Houston. Weather should be quiet and cooler for much of the weekend but a few showers are expected to return Monday. In the tropics, Hurricane Lisa is making landfall in Belize and Hurricane Martin in the Atlantic is not expected to threaten land.

Tropical Weather Forecast - November 2, 2022

Hurricane Lisa has strengthened to 85 mph and as of this afternoon is making landfall near Belize City in Central America. It will bring heavy rain, strong winds and a storm surge threat to Belize and parts of the Yucatan Peninsula before weakening to a tropical depression by Thursday. Hurricane Martin is also at 85 mph in the north central Atlantic and is not expected to impact land. Martin will lose tropical characteristics as it races to the NE into colder waters.

Some sun, possible light showers this Wednesday afternoon

We're in for a couple of relatively quiet weather days to close out the work week, with a passing light shower or two possible. The weekend will begin with a line of potent storms, that looks to arrive locally overnight Friday into Saturday. Strong winds are currently the primary threat for southeast Texas, likely causing power outages and the potential for some isolated wind damage. The line does look to move through fairly quickly, limiting flooding concerns. Nonetheless, frequent thunder and lightning in addition to brief heavy rainfall can also be expected. Stay tuned in to the forecast for updates and changes, conditions can also be monitored via our free Fox 26 Weather App.

Cool Wednesday morning with areas of fog and mist, then mostly cloudy skies
video

After a foggy morning, today is looking mostly cloudy with a few light drizzles possible, otherwise a decent Wednesday. Tomorrow and Friday will be warmer as we watch and wait for a line of strong storms to sweep through late Friday or early Saturday. There will be a chance for severe winds when this line hits, so check back for updates over the next couple of days.

Wednesday morning weather forecast

Expect the rain to finally start to wind down tonight in Houston as a disturbance pulls away. Weather should be quiet also for Game 3 of the World Series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia with temperatures starting off in the low 60s. We get a few mild and dry days. But a stronger system arrives late Friday and Saturday which will bring another round of rain and possibly some strong storms. Tropical Storm Lisa is expected to strengthen to a hurricane tonight and make landfall around Belize Wednesday afternoon. Tropical Storm Martin is in the north central Atlantic and is only expected to impact shipping channels.
