Houston weather: Your Sunday morning forecast

We could be seeing highs in the 70s as early as Friday and into Saturday, but looking at our extended forecast the next 10 to 14 days, another Arctic blast making its way across the United States. And it looks like mostly everybody except the peninsula of Florida is going to be seeing temperatures below seasonal.

Houston morning weather forecast, Jan. 11

Southeast Texas is waking up to near freezing temperatures. Skies will be clear with lots of sunshine with highs in the low-50s. Showers return to Southeast Texas Sunday afternoon. Coverage remains at 30%. Wake up temperatures will be in the upper-30s with highs reaching the mid-50s. Skies will be dry for the Texans game Saturday. For folks tailgating, make sure to bundle up because it will be chilly in the 40s before the game. After the game, expect sunny skies and temperatures in the low-50s. You can expect the weather this upcoming week to be a bit closer to ?normal? for this time of year. We start the week with highs in the mid-50s and end the week in the 60s. FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast

The winter storm that has been impacting Texas has now moved out of the state. It brought several inches of snow to parts of North Texas and a few inches of rain for parts of Southeast Texas. There's a huge football playoff game tonight at AT&T stadium in Arlington, the Cotton Bowl with Texas and Ohio state. Temperatures will be near freezing, but the weather should be dry. However, drive with extreme caution as patches of ice will likely still be on many of the roads around Arlington. For the Houston area, expect cold and dry conditions tonight with a widespread freeze likely by Saturday morning. After starting off in the low 30s for Houston Saturday morning, temperatures should climb to the middle 50s by Saturday afternoon with plenty of sunshine. Weather will be cool but quiet for Texans tailgating for the big NFL wild card playoff game against the Chargers Saturday afternoon. Look for more clouds Sunday with isolated rain chances and slightly warmer temperatures near 60. We've had some crazy weather in recent weeks. But next week's weather looks fairly quiet with seasonal temperatures near 60 during the afternoon and near 40 overnight. Cold rain to remain through Friday morning | FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast

Texas Winter Storm roaring across the state will reach its peak Thursday night with more snow across the Dallas and Fort Worth areas and heavy rain for Houston in Southeast Texas. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect for North Texas including Dallas & Arlington until noon on Friday, with the threat for snow & ice lingering. It's a FOX 26 Storm Alert Day and this will continue through the first half of Friday, with widespread 2 to 3 inch rain totals expected for Houston. Isolated higher amounts of 4"+ are possible near the coast. Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect until 3 a.m. that includes the Bolivar Peninsula and Galveston Island with some minor flooding of parking lots and other areas anticipated. Wind Advisory is also in place until 6 AM along the coast with wind gusts to 40 mph expected. Widespread rain is expected this evening through Friday morning. Rain should wind down by late Friday morning with chilly, windy and dry weather expected for Friday afternoon through Friday night. Get ready for another freeze likely Saturday morning with temperatures climbing to the low 50s Saturday afternoon. Weather should be cool but dry for Texans tailgating for the playoff game Saturday. North Texas seeing intense snowy weather

The winter weather is expected to be more intense in North Texas as Dallas residents could see their biggest snowstorm in more than a decade. FOX's Kennedy Hayes is in Arlington with how the area is fairing.
