FOX 26 Houston Weather Forecast
Following the hottest day on record for Houston (tied with last Thursday), today will be hot, but not as crazy hot. Look for highs in the upper 90s to low 100s with scattered afternoon rain. The rest of the week does look hot with upper 90s tomorrow and around 101 the rest of the week. In the tropics, Idalia is threatening Florida with high winds and rain on Wednesday and Franklin is a category 4 in the Atlantic and only threatens Bermuda.

VERY hot today with late day isolated storms mainly north of I-10, a few of which may be on the strong side. Scattered showers continue area-wide tomorrow as a weak summer front progresses across the area. That'll lower temps and humidity some for the remainder of the week, with mainly pleasant mornings to look forward to. All eyes on the Eastern Gulf with now TD-10 set to bring impacts to Florida in the Tuesday-Wednesday time frame.

Excessive Heat Warning continues for Houston until 9 PM with a Heat Advisory in place through Saturday evening. More triple digit heat is likely through the weekend and into Monday with only a slim shot for rain. Heat dome will try to slide west through early next week which will allow a weak summer cold front to try to push in Monday and Tuesday. This should knock temperatures back down below 100 and increase our rain chances. We will also be closely watching invest 93-L in the NW Caribbean. It is forecast to track into the eastern Gulf of Mexico by Monday and has a high chance to develop into a tropical depression or storm early next week. It will likely head towards Florida.

Records have been shattered with some of the hottest temperatures of all time and of the summer today across Houston and surrounding areas! So far, we've made it up to 109 degrees in Houston today which ties our all-time record high temperature for Bush Airport! Galveston reached 99 so far which is the hottest temperature of the year and a record for today. Isolated showers and storms are possible through this evening which may provide some relief. Excessive heat warning is in effect for Houston until 10 PM followed by a Heat Advisory through 9 PM Friday. Look for more 100-degree heat through early next week before a slight pattern change. This change will mean temps a bit below 100 and a better chance for spotty rain and storms. Be careful in the heat!

After a one-day break from our streak of 100 degree days, we're right back in heat wave mode today through this weekend. Now, there will be a chance for some occasional storms each afternoon, but overall, we're looking for heat advisories and highs around 102-105.

Impacts will be minimal though with most of the heavy rain from Harold across south Texas. Any severe storm threat with Harold should remain to our SW. Look for only isolated rain possible for the rest of the week as we get back to our super hot and mainly dry weather pattern. Many got a break from triple digits today thanks to the effects from Harold. But a stretch of triple digits is expected for the next several days. It's been 23 days straight of triple digit heat but things are about to change...at least for one day! Tropical Depression Nine has popped up in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to become Tropical Storm Harold either tonight or early Tuesday. It should make landfall in south Texas south of Corpus Christi Tuesday morning. So most of the rain and stronger wind should stay away from Houston. But spotty downpours and a few strong storms are still possible during the day Tuesday. Greatest impacts will be felt around coastal areas of Matagorda & Jackson counties where a Tropical Storm Watch is in effect. There will be a higher rip current risk and small craft advisory in place for coastal areas as this tropical system brushes by. It's back to triple digit heat for the rest of the week and little to no rain with record heat likely by Thursday.
