HOUSTON (AP) — Lenard Tillery rushed for a career-high 198 yards with two touchdowns and Southern beat Texas Southern 40-21 in a game played earlier than scheduled due to heavy rain bands from Hurricane Patricia. Southern (4-3, 4-1 Southwestern) got off on the right foot, as Willie Quinn returned the opening kickoff 96 yards for a touchdown. Texas Southern tied it after a fumble on a punt return set up a short field for Brad Woodard's 2-yard run.

Aldridge, Green lead Spurs to 111-86 win over Rockets

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Danny Green made six 3-pointers and joined LaMarcus Aldridge with 19 points and the San Antonio Spurs closed the preseason by beating the Houston Rockets 111-86 on Friday night. James Harden had 17 points and nine assists to lead Houston, which hosts Denver on Wednesday to open the season. Aldridge finished 6 of 7 from the field in his highest scoring output with San Antonio.
