Was That Fake?

Did Netflix announce a Harry Potter episodic series? Fans of the lightning-scarfed wizard went bananas when they saw an advertisement that shows a young Harry with his eyes as green as a fresh-picked toad. The advertisement claims the show will air on Christmas of 2020. The show is not happening. The image being heavily distributed is just fan art. Snopes has determined that the original photo was taken by a photojournalist in Afghanistan in 2001. Whoever made the Harry Potter art digitally-altered the original picture. Also, Netflix has never announced any Harry Potter series.

Are teens and children eating detergent packets on social media? It has developed into a popular online challenge. As much as we wish this was a fake scenario, it is so true that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office sent FOX 26 News a public service note about it. The challenge encourages teens and children to record themselves eating water-soluble detergent packets and recording it. The packets are dangerous. Six adults and two children have already died from eating them since the product was first sold a few years ago. Keep those packets out of reach from children!

Did a cartoon show predict an Oprah Winfrey presidential campaign for 2020? It wasn't on "The Simpsons," but it was in a 2006 episode of the Cartoon Network animated program "The Boondocks." A screenshot from "The Boondocks" episode shows Winfrey winning the presidency in 2020. Despite plenty of speculation since she won the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the Golden Globe Awards ceremony, she has not confirmed any presidential campaign rumors.
