The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) officially start car recalls after receiving complaints from consumers.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Fresh & Ready Foods is recalling a limited number of its Sprig & Sprout Spicy Breakfast Burrito and Fresh and Ready Spicy Breakfast Burrito products after discovering they may contain undeclared soy and sausage despite being labeled as vegetarian.
The company issued the recall on Tuesday, with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration publishing the recall on Wednesday.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. Consumers who do not consume meat should also not consume these products, as the recall was initiated after sausage was found in products labeled vegetarian.

The recalled products were distributed in Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia grab and go markets and vending machines.
The affected products are:
- Sprig & Sprout Spicy Breakfast Burrito (8.3 ounces/234 grams), UPC 1 00001 00029 7, Fresh Thru 07/20/26
- Fresh and Ready Spicy Breakfast Burrito (8.2 ounces/232 grams), UPC 1 00001 00029 7, Fresh Thru 07/20/26

Recall initiated after complaints of sausage in product labeled ‘vegetarian’
The backstory:
The recall was initiated after two customers reported finding sausage in products labeled as vegetarian. The company said the accidental inclusion of sausage introduced soy, a major food allergen that was not declared on the product label.
