Train derailment in Sealy closes Highway 36

SEALY, Texas (FOX 26) - Highway 36 in Sealy is closed and traffic is being detoured due to a Union Pacific train derailment.

Sealy police say eight train cars carrying gravel slipped the tracks at the 2nd Street crossing. Highway 36, 2nd Street, and Main Street are closed. Traffic is being detoured to Columbus Road and Hardeman Street.

Police ask drivers to avoid the area.
