A mother is dead after being shot by her ex-husband in northeast Houston.

          Police say the two were meeting at an apartment on Lockwood to discuss child custody. Investigators say an argument broke out and the ex-husband pulled a gun and shot the woman. Police have the man in custody.

          The child was in the apartment, but was not hurt.



A person of interest is in custody, in Houston, in the shooting of an Austin judge. Police say the arrest was made last night on unrelated charges.

The person is being questioned.

          State district judge Julie Kocurek was shot Friday, outside of her home. She is recovering from non-life threatening injuries.


The man accused of killing an 18 year old t-s-u student is due in court today.

Jartis Leblanc was captured last month, after a standoff with police. He is facing murder charges for killing Brent Randall, in the parking lot of an apartment complex near campus.


The national highway traffic safety administration is asking Texas for advice, regarding seat belts on school buses. Our state is one of six that requires seat belts on newly purchased buses.

          The NHTSA recommends every child should have a three-point seat belt, despite some studies saying otherwise.
