Christmas Eve shooting: Man shot in the neck at party in Spring Branch

A man is in critical condition after being shot in the neck at a party early Wednesday morning, police say. 

Houston Police Department officers were called to the 1700 block of Gessner Road around 1:30 a.m. after reports of shots fired. Houston Fire Department paramedics took the man to a nearby trauma center, where he remains in critical condition.

Investigators learned a woman brought her new boyfriend to a party and at some point, the woman was asked to dance by another man at the gathering. The new boyfriend became angry, approached the man who asked his girlfriend to dance, and shot him in the neck before leaving the scene.

The suspect remains at large, and HPD officers are actively searching for him.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the suspect or the shooting to contact HPD immediately.
