Robbery suspects target Kroger store in Crosby

They weren't subtle, storming into a Crosby Kroger around 9 a.m. on Tuesday.

It was right after customer Destiny Zertuche walked out.

"Lots of thoughts. Crazy, like what if I had still been in there, you know, whenever this was happening," she pondered.

Four men armed with crowbars and other weapons went for the registers and the cash booth, then ran to their getaway car, but the getaway didn't last long. A joint task force of HPD, Harris County Sheriff's office and DPS bagged them, and their driver not far down Highway 90.

"Well, take them where we can get them," said HPD detective Russell Gray.

It turns out, they were already on their radar.

"We've been investigating this crew and we believe they're responsible for multiple robberies in Harris County and the Houston area," said Gray.

Do you remember on May 4, when three masked men stormed into the Walmart on South Rice in southwest Houston? Houston police set up a perimeter, but they managed to slip away.

"The best thing about Walmart stores is the surveillance system. There's lots of cameras which will help our investigation," said Assistant Chief Troy Finner at the time.

Police think that this crew was behind that one and some other similar robberies. They can't say for sure, but they can say they believed that it was a matter of time before someone got hurt. They believed, until they went a store too far today.

"All I can say is crazy, because it's crazy," said Zertuche.
