Preventing school shootings

As parents and students try to pick up the pieces from last Friday’s deadly shooting in Santa Fe, we're learning more about the timeline of that tragic day.

In the course of 30 minutes, the suspect killed 10 people and wounded 10 others. Galveston County's sheriff says it took four minutes for Santa Fe ISD officers to engage the gunman after the first shots were fired.

Santa Fe High School had even taken the steps to avoid something like this. In February, two weeks after the Parkland shooting, the school went into lockdown after a false alarm of an active-shooter situation. They won a statewide award for their safety program.

Meantime, at least 5 Houston-area schools reported threats today.
