Plano West student arrested for bringing gun to school

A Plano West Senior High School student was arrested on Thursday for allegedly bringing a gun with him to school.

Plano police said the juvenile male was arrested without incident on campus and the gun was confiscated.

Police said the Plano West school resource officer received a tip that a student on campus had the gun. It was not immediately known what type of gun the student possessed and if he had any ammunition with him.

The arrest was the second of three in North Texas on Thursday involving students bringing a firearm to school. A 16-year-old brought a handgun to Flower Mound Marcus High School. He was arrested and faces a felony charge for possessing a firearm in a prohibited place. A teen at South Garland High School was also arrested for bringing a gun.

All of the arrests come the day after a shooting at a South Florida high school left 17 people dead.
