Milagro Flores: From humble beginnings to becoming a TV powerhouse, building a digital empire
Milagro Flores, a Honduran TV host and influencer with nearly 7 million followers, initially dreamed of a peaceful life in the arts but found unexpected success on television.
HOUSTON - In the neighborhood of Colonia Villa Cristina, Honduras, a young girl named Milagro Flores dreamed of a life filled with art, music, and dance. Her humble beginnings did not deter her ambitions; rather, they fueled her determination to rise above and make a name for herself. Today, Milagro is a celebrated TV host and influencer, captivating audiences across Honduras and beyond. With nearly 7 million followers across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, Milagro is a household name.
A pivotal moment in Milagro's life
The backstory:
Milagro's journey to stardom was not a straightforward path. Initially, she envisioned a peaceful life dedicated to the arts, studying Plastic Arts with dreams of painting and dancing ballet. "I never thought of working on television, I never thought of being on social media. I always wanted a peaceful life. I envisioned myself painting, being home. I love music and ballet. I love to dance," she reflects.
However, life had other plans for Milagro. Faced with the decision to continue her education or start working, she chose the latter, attending a casting call at Hable Como Habla (HCH), which translates to talk the way you talk, a prominent media outlet in Honduras. Among hundreds of hopefuls, Milagro was chosen, marking the beginning of her unexpected journey into television.
"I didn’t have a set schedule for when I would come in and when I would go home. I just wanted a job. I came to HCH looking for a job. I didn’t come looking for fame. I didn’t come looking to be the main star of the network," Milagro recalls. Her willingness to say yes to every opportunity, even when she felt unprepared, became a cornerstone of her success. "Sometimes people don’t see the sacrifices you have to make to be able to receive all the success that we have right now. I thank God for that."
Now Milagro works on the news magazine show ‘Que Viva la Vida’ (Long live life).
'Social media is taking over the world'
What they're saying:
Nine years into her television career, Milagro has become a beloved figure in the industry, known for her hard work and genuine connection with viewers. Her role in 'El Vive,' a remote broadcast traveling across Honduras, allows her to engage with audiences in a unique and personal way. "It’s a beautiful thing when you’re on stage hosting a remote show, and you’re having fun with the audience," she shares.
Despite the challenges of waking up at 3 a.m., traveling across the country, and working through technical difficulties, Milagro's passion for her work remains unwavering. She believes the future of television lies in digital and social media, urging her peers to adapt to the changing landscape. "It’s no secret that social media is taking over the world, and for those of us that work in the television industry, if we don’t adjust or compete with all the entertainment options that exist online, we’re going to be left behind."
Milagro's authenticity shines through both on television and social media. "HCH gave me the platform to show who I am. HCH lets me spread my wings and fly. I can do what I want within reason; my bosses are the best," she says. Her transparency with her followers, sharing not only the good moments but also the challenges, has endeared her to many. "Sharing with your followers not the good things but the moments where things are difficult, when things get complicated, when you’re feeling upset. You need to let people know that you’re human, that you have ups and downs."
Milagro is an acclaimed personality and is often brought to different cities in the United States to host events at nightclubs, soccer games, and even be the face for brands.
"It's a blessing that I've been accepted by viewers not only in Honduras but international as well," Flores said.
The other side of immigration: family separation
Dig deeper:
Her personal life has not been without its trials. When her brother, Leonardo had to flee the country for his safety, Milagro was unable to say goodbye. "When my brother left, I was working. I couldn’t say goodbye to him. My mom called me and told me ‘Leo left’," she recounts. Despite these hardships, Milagro's strong following in the United States helped her secure a work visa, allowing her to reunite her family.
Using criticism as fuel
What's next:
Now, Milagro is embarking on a new chapter in her career: music. She made her debut on the remix of 'Caliente' by Las Catrachas, Kazzabe, and Lachi TRM. Milagro has another collaboration on the way with a European musical group, 'Chicos de musica pal barrio.'
"Many people say I don't have talent. All I have to say is buckle up, because this girl that doesn't have talent is coming way so much more," Flores said.
While Milagro enjoys the love and support of her fans, she is not immune to criticism. "Having peace in my heart. I take refuge in God. I say I will silence the haters with my work rather than respond to their hate directly," she asserts.
Milagro has learned to manage her finances. She has embarked on her journey in real estate development and looks to create generational wealth.
"I'm very frugal with my money. I live below my means. I save all my money and I don't spend it unnecessarily. I'm not going to be on television forever. I want to build something for myself and my future.
Milagro Flores's story is one of resilience, passion, and authenticity. From the streets of Colonia Villa Cristina to the screens of Honduran television, she has proven that with hard work and determination, dreams can indeed become reality.
