Several fire fighting agencies responded to a massive 3 alarm fire that destroyed a Houston favorite, Charlie's BBQ restaurant on 8220 Airline Drive. Although under control, smoke is still coming out from the debris where Charlie's BBQ once stood. The fire completely destroyed the entire restaurant.

The scene is still still active as fire fighters are addressing hot spots. It was an all-hands on deck approach, multiple crews from little York, Sheldon, Aldine and Eastex came to combat the flames that were shooting out of the roof of the restaurant. Cars that were parked next to the restaurant were completely destroyed. According to investigators, the neighboring businesses were not damaged, but the power had to be shut off. High winds made it difficult to battle the flames since it caused the fire to spread rapidly throughout the building. A major concern is the lack of an efficient water supply. It took 30-45 minutes just to establish a water supply through portable tanks. The water supply for the battle was very "concerning" since there are many businesses nearby.

Don Gilkey/Deputy Chief, Little York Fire Department reiterated that the water supply issue was a difficult challenge in this firefight, "It's very frustrating." Thankfully no injuries were reported. Harris county fire Marshall is investigating to determine the cause of the fire.
