Man arrested in beating death of 83-year-old Pasadena man

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Investigators have arrested 23-year-old Silvano DeJesus Echavarria, who was charged with capital murder in the beating death of an 83-year-old grandfather in Pasadena. 

U.S. Marshals Service members and Pasadena police arrested Echavarria at a home in Lacombe, La. Echavarria will remain in custody for the capital murder charge until an extradition hearing takes place. 

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Aug. 5, police officers on patrol discovered the body of an 83-year-old man near a vehicle at in the 4200 block of Shaver in Pasadena. Police say the 83-year-old man had injuries to his head. 

Court documents reveal that the elderly man was punched nearly 25 times, kicked and stomped in the head more than 70 times.
