Liberty County Pct. 1 Constable struck by vehicle
DAYTON, Texas (FOX 26) - Liberty County Pct. 1 Constable Justin Johnston, who was struck by a vehicle while directing traffic in Dayton, has woken up according to family.
The family released an update saying, "We have an amazing praise report today. Justin is awake !!!! The prayers of God's people are being heard. He is swallowing and we are beyond encouraged. Thank you for your prayers----they are working !!!! We are looking ahead and thanking God for MIRACLES !!!!"
Johnston's sister, Julie Johnston Wilner, shared an update on her Facebook page Thursday outlining the extent his injuries and saying he was "very critical":
According to Liberty County Sheriff's Office, several deputies were directing traffic Wednesday evening when a truck went around parked cars, went through a barricade, and struck the front end of a Liberty County sheriff's unit. The red pick up spun around and stuck Constable Johnston.
The constable was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight with serious injuries. He was taken into surgery Wednesday night. The driver and his daughter were also taken to the hospital. The man had a broken leg and the daughter did not suffer serious injuries.
Charges are pending at this time and the investigation continues.
