Klein community, students pay tribute to George H.W. Bush

Thousands of students from Klein ISD paid tribute former President George H.W. Bush as his funeral train made its way to his final resting place in College Station.

About 6,500 hundred students from elementary through high school left their classrooms around 1 p.m. to waited along the track. The Klein Oak High School band played "Hail to the Chief" and the JROTC cadets saluted as the train passed.

"As soon as it was over all I heard was, 'Sergeant, that was awesome!' and it’s kind of hard to teach that," said Senior Master Sergeant Chad Johnson, an Air Force veteran and instructor of the school's JROTC program.

"He’s a role model to all of us  for putting everything before himself -- his country," said Gabrielle Hart, a junior and cadet.
