CHICAGO - Jussie Smollett's attorney is now shifting attention back to the brothers who told police they were paid to attack Smollett.
The attorney of Abimbola and Olabinjo Osundairo has now quit.
Cook County state's attorney Kim Foxx recused herself from the investigation before Smollett was charged. Her office is now taking heat for abruptly dropping the charges against Smollett only five weeks after the allegations were filed.
The state’s attorney’s office has released an email and text messages related to the Smollett investigation. That email is from Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, Tina Tchen, to Kim Foxx.
Tchen is an attorney and served as a go-between for the Smollett family and prosecutors. In the message dated February 1, Tchen writes in part, "I wanted to give you a call on behalf of Jussie Smollett and family who I know. They have concerns about the investigation."
