Houston weather: Bracing for near-triple-digit heat this week

Tropical moisture brings isolated storms

Tropical moisture remains in the Gulf aiding in off and on rounds of rain today.

Overall coverage will be less than days past. Flood risk is a bit lower today.

Always remember when you hear thunder roar, head indoors.

Highs near 100 again this week

Drier and warming conditions return by Monday as high pressure rebuilds.

The sun returns & rain chances taper off.  Then the stage is set for a significant heat rise.

Highs climb into the upper 90s, with humidity bringing the heat index up to triple digits, near heat advisory criteria.

7-Day Forecast

Tropics are quiet

Skies are quiet across the Atlantic, Caribbean and the Gulf.

The National Hurricane Center is not expecting any tropical development over the next 7 days.

Even though things are quiet, it is always a good time to stock your hurricane preparedness kit.
