Houston shooting: Man shot after minor fender bender in Westside

A man was shot after getting into a minor fender bender crash in the west Houston area early Tuesday morning.

According to the Houston Police Department, the man is expected to survive.

What we know:

HPD Lieutenant Ali stated authorities responded to a shooting near Synott Road and Ashford Point Drive around midnight on Tuesday.

Officers reviewed surveillance video and learned three men in a vehicle were attempting to leave the 4000 block of Synott Road and the driver backed into the suspect's vehicle in a minor crash.

Lt. Ali says the suspect got into a verbal altercation with the male driver and two others which turned physical. The suspect chased the man down at one point and began to beat them up.

The victim attempted to leave the scene and the suspect pulled out a weapon and shot the vehicle, hitting the victim.

He was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

What we don't know:

The identity of the suspects is unknown at this time. The suspected vehicle they were in has not been reported.
