Houston shooting: Man killed in Galleria area, authorities investigating

Houston police are investigating a deadly shooting in Houston's Galleria area on Thursday evening. 

Man dropped off at emergency room

What we know:

A man was dropped off at an emergency clinic near San Felipe and Post Oak around 6 p.m.

Police say a man carried him in the front door and turned him over to the staff. They tried to provide medical care and called the Houston Fire Department.

The wounded man died at the scene.

What we don't know:

Authorities have not released the identity of the man who died.

Police are also trying to identify the man who dropped him off. Police say he left the scene. The gray pickup truck that the two men arrived in was still in the parking lot.

Shooting believed to be robbery

What we know:

Authorities say it appears someone shot the man near Post Oak and Westheimer. In an update Friday, police said the shooting did not occur outside of Morton's The Steakhouse but in the parking lot of another business in the vicinity.

The motive appears to be robbery, police say.

The suspect is described only as a Black male in his 20s, wearing a green hoodie. 

What we don't know:

The suspect has not been identified.
