A horse died after being struck by a car in Southeast Harris County.  Around 3 a.m. this morning, Precinct 7 constables say a man was driving about 40 mph along the Sam Houston Tollway Service road, just west of 288. The driver told constables that he was unable to avoid striking the horse. The horse reportedly took off running after the crash, and Pearland police officers were finally able to track down the horse near the SH Tollway exit off 288. Pearland animal control officers were then called to the scene. Animal control officers then had to put the horse down after the accident.
