The man accused of trying to force a woman into his car in north Harris County on Saturday before abducting another woman moments later, is in jail. Investigators said 22-year-old Howard Dixon also attacked two women in Montgomery County on Sunday.
Albee Lewis entered a guilty plea in the April 2017 murder of Ashanti Hunter. Lewis shot his girlfriend in front of her three children including their daughter.
The Spring Independent School District superintendent said strong disciplinary action has been taken against the principal of the Ponderosa Elementary campus. Principal Shanna Swearingen reportedly said that school officials would call the police on a black special needs student who repeatedly ran away from class and told them he had a gun. She has apologized.
Former first lady Laura Bush visited Houston Methodist Hospital on Wednesday where she opened a new center for health and nature at the hospital. Mrs. Bush also visited former President George H.W. Bush.
