Services announced for Brazoria County deputy killed in the line of duty
There will be opportunities for the public to honor the life and legacy of Brazoria County Deputy Jesus Vargas, who was killed in the line of duty in southwest Houston.
Vargas, a 17-year veteran of the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office, was married and had three children.

Brazoria County deputy killed in Southwest Houston
The backstory:
Deputy Vargas was shot and killed near Stella Link Road and I-610 in southwest Houston on Wednesday.
The deputy was attempting to apprehend Robert Lee Davis III, a repeat violent offender.
The suspect shot him as he approached to serve the warrant, the mayor says.
